About

Maronitica is a lay inquiry into the social, economic and religious history of the Maronite community as it unfolded primarily in the village of ‘Aqura in Mount Lebanon between the end of the first millennium CE and early modern times. It is an attempt to connect the dots between a diverse corpus of primary and secondary sources, ranging from ecclesiastic sources, the micro-histories of Maronite families, to the administrative records of the governments that controlled the area.
